Representation Objectives Recover Different Structures from Psychometric Data

Summary

A study of 757 matched teacher-child pairs shows that contrastive, PCA-based, and multi-task representations capture different aspects of psychometric data. Contrastive learning greatly improves retrieval, while PCA better preserves behavioral phenotypes.
