Robots Stage Warsaw Protest for Stricter AI Rules

About 30 robots took to the streets of Warsaw on Monday in a staged demonstration calling on Poland’s government to regulate artificial intelligence before it costs people their jobs. Waving flags and chanting slogans including “Defend workplaces,” “Time for rules” and “Don’t wait, regulate,” the robots were used to dramatize the potential impact of automation. Human organiser Grzegorz Kuliś said the demonstration was intended to show what robots may be capable of and why regulation is urgent. He called for rules that would act as a shield for workers. Kuliś added that people working in high technology may be feeling AI’s effects more acutely than other members of society, and urged public discussion before the problem becomes more immediate.
