Fog 2.0 replaces automatic note sorting with user control

Summary

Fog’s developer says the first version used Apple’s on-device foundation model to name new notes, generate tags, find similarly tagged folders, and move notes there automatically. Although processing worked offline and kept notes on the device, the constantly changing names and locations made it harder for the developer to find and reference notes, prompting a redesign. In Fog 2.0, AI suggests rather than decides: it can name a note, and users can edit or regenerate that name; users choose which notes go into a folder, while Fog generates a folder name and summary that can also be changed. The app adds natural-language note queries through Siri AI, using Apple’s note App Intent schema. The developer also replaced the first version’s extensive Liquid Glass styling, which reduced readability and did not scale across platforms, with native SwiftUI components intended to adapt to different screen sizes. Fog 2.0 is available free on the App Store, and the developer says notes remain on the device.
