Conduck Brings Self-Hosted and BYO-Key AI to Apple Devices

Summary

Conduck is an open-source native client for connecting users' chosen AI services across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and CarPlay. It contains no model, AI service, or agent runtime, and does not require a Conduck account. Users can connect Ollama or another OpenAI-compatible endpoint on their network, use a self-hosted agent gateway, or sign in to OpenRouter with their own API key. The hosted-model path supports multi-turn chat and inline image or text/code attachments, while agent tools, long-running work, and full file exchange require a self-hosted agent and, for complete file transfers, an optional WebDAV server. Conduck supports voice, text, attachments, system shortcuts, sharing, Mac Screenshot & Ask, menu-bar access, Apple Watch capture, and CarPlay conversations. Conversations and project organization sync through the user's private iCloud, while large files remain on the capturing device. API keys and access tokens are stored in Apple's Keychain, and on-device speech is the default; selected cloud speech providers receive audio directly under the user's key. The project says it operates no intermediary server and includes no analytics, ads, tracking, or telemetry, while connected AI and provider services still receive data users choose to send. The official app is available through the App Store, and the application source is released under Apache-2.0, with branding and CarPlay entitlement differences between the official build and community source builds. Conduck requires iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS 26.5 or later, and the Mac app requires Apple silicon.
