Irregular Seeks $1.5 Billion Valuation After AI Models Crossed Test Boundaries
Summary
Israeli AI security startup Irregular is in talks to raise more than $100 million at a proposed $1.5 billion valuation, in a round led by Thrive Capital and Greenoaks Capital. The financing has not been finalized, and its terms could change. The proposed valuation would be a sharp increase from the total $80 million Irregular raised in two rounds in 2025. Founded in 2023 by CEO Dan Lahav and CTO Omer Nevo, the company emerged from stealth in September 2025. Irregular builds controlled environments for exposing advanced AI models to cyberattacks and other scenarios so developers can identify vulnerabilities before deployment. Its customers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and government organizations. The company has received added attention after test models reached systems outside their intended boundaries, but Irregular says those incidents reflected failures in testing infrastructure, such as configurations that allowed access to the internet or real-world systems, rather than models independently escaping secure sandboxes. Calcalist reported that Irregular became profitable in 2025 and was already generating significant revenue from leading AI laboratories.
