Anthropic Launches Study on What People Want from AI

Anthropic has launched a study asking people about their most meaningful positive and negative experiences with AI, what they want AI to change in work, education, healthcare, and government, and what they expect from AI companies. The study uses Anthropic Interviewer, an AI system that conducts interviews of roughly 15 minutes. It is open from September 29 to October 6, 2026, to Free, Pro, and Max users of Claude and Claude Code whose accounts are at least two weeks old. Participants may choose to make their complete interview and the country associated with it public, but publication is optional. Anthropic says it will not publish Claude account details such as a name or email address, yet warns that employers, relatives, governments, companies, scammers, or others could identify participants by combining details in their answers. Anthropic can remove its own copy on request, but cannot delete copies others have saved, so public release should be treated as permanent. Participants can review their interview before deciding, end early and permanently delete a partial interview, or keep the full interview private while allowing aggregated or de-identified analysis. Anthropic says the findings will inform its Societal Impacts research and the development of its models and products. The project follows a December study that received responses from 81,000 people and expands the questions, participating Claude products, and public-sharing option. Anthropic acknowledges that Claude users are not a representative sample of the public and that people who volunteer for publication may differ further from other participants.
