DoorDash brings corporate ordering to workplace AI agents
Summary
DoorDash is introducing a corporate-ordering connector that lets companies connect DoorDash with compatible internal AI tools or agents they build themselves. Early beta partners include SpaceXAI, Vercel, Cognition, Tempo, and Mercor. Connected agents can search DoorDash items, build carts, place orders, and track deliveries, allowing employees to request lunches based on previous orders or arrange recurring meals through an eligible corporate benefit. Companies can also build shared workflows, such as a Slack bot that collects requests in a thread and submits a group order. Another intended use is linking an agent to company inventory so it can reorder snacks, drinks, or office supplies as they run low. Local businesses still fulfill the orders, with delivery handled through DoorDash. The connector uses the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI applications to external services, and can work with compatible in-house agents. Access is granted at the company level, while employees sign in to their own DoorDash accounts and agree to the terms before authorizing an agent to act for them. DoorDash says the initial beta is limited to companies ordering for their employees and will be expanded after feedback. Companies can join the waitlist starting September 30 through the DoorDash developer portal. DoorDash is also expanding beta access to its CLI for individual developers building agents for personal use.
