stAI Launches a Preconfigured Ubuntu VM for AI and Full-Stack Development

Summary

stAI is a commercially distributed Ubuntu virtual machine for full-stack developers, AI builders, DevOps learners, students, and teams who want a preconfigured development environment. The VMware image is about 54GB and is intended to support a boot-to-build workflow with no manual dependency setup. Its AI stack includes llama.cpp for local large-language-model experimentation and Weaviate for retrieval-augmented generation and embeddings; the project says its Swarm replicas, HTTP endpoints, Raft or cluster reporting, persistence, and GraphQL query path were tested successfully. The image also includes source code for the NoQ Clinic medical triage and doctor-routing application, described as using a single-agent Plan-and-Execute system, multi-step reasoning, medical retrieval, Reflexion-based self-correction, and tool calling for doctor search and ranking. Beyond AI components, the environment bundles Node.js, Express.js, Next.js, React, React Native, TailwindCSS, HeroUI, Storybook, MongoDB, MySQL, VS Code extensions, Postman, unit testing, Dockerfiles, MicroK8s scripts, Docker Swarm workflows, and Go and Fyne development tools. The machine can be downloaded as a VMware image after purchase, with installation based on VMware Workstation 17 Pro and opening the supplied VMX file. Listed prices range from $79 for the Student Edition to $1,499 for a 10-seat Enterprise Pack, while the launch promotion advertises 50% off. The publisher also says students or people facing financial difficulty may qualify for a free download after contacting the administrator.
