TurboMail launches a private AI email client with on-device processing
Summary
TurboMail is an AI-first email client for macOS and Windows that works with Gmail, Outlook, and other IMAP accounts. Its bundled 1 GB model handles email search, summaries, and drafting on the user’s computer, including offline operation, so email content is not sent to TurboMail’s servers. Users can ask plain-English questions across their inbox and receive answers linked to the exact source messages. The app also offers inbox triage, a spoken morning briefing, recurring-charge detection, one-click mailing-list unsubscribing, calendar integration, and booking links for Google Meet or Microsoft Teams calls. Turbo Agents can prepare recurring replies, but nothing is sent without user approval. For users who want larger models, TurboMail supports optional cloud mode with the user’s own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key; requests go directly to that provider, and the active model is shown in the app. OAuth access is handled through Google and Microsoft, credentials are stored locally in encrypted form, and the company says it measures only anonymous install and active-user counts. The full app is free during beta with no card required.
