Meta Open-Sources Code for DIY Muse AI Gadgets
Summary
Meta has open-sourced code and SDKs that let people connect its Muse AI agent to hardware they build themselves. Suggested projects include using Muse with a color E Ink display for reminders, an HDMI stick for a larger screen, or a small touchscreen device resembling a DIY Muse Charm. Meta says developers can program an off-the-shelf ESP32 board or Raspberry Pi and connect Muse to displays, buttons, sensors, actuators and other workshop hardware, while warning users to proceed at their own risk. The company is also distributing a Muse Home Link device it built. Through community-created skills, the device can control functions such as lights and TVs or send a document to a printer, depending on the user’s setup. Meta Superintelligence Labs’ Nat Friedman said Meta manufactured 5,000 Home Link units. People can join a waitlist ahead of shipping expected sometime this month.
