AI Tool Raven Helps Police Identify Homes from Interior Photos

Summary

Graylark Technologies has expanded its Raven tool, formerly called GeoSpy, so law enforcement users can submit a single interior photo and receive a likely property location. Demonstrations showed the system matching rooms, bathrooms, and appliances with photos and listing language from Airbnb, Vrbo, Zillow, and a hotel listing, then narrowing results to properties in Charlotte, Montecito, or San Francisco. The process is different from reverse image search: Raven appears to identify visual characteristics and locate other images from the same property, even when the image itself is not published online. Graylark says it trained Raven on millions of geotagged images and is developing city-specific property models; one Miami-Dade model was available to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. The company says the capability may help investigators turn unidentified interiors into leads, including in trafficking and exploitation cases, and plans broader coverage of U.S. hotels, rentals, houses, and apartments in 2026. Airbnb and Zillow said scraping violates their terms and described privacy or legal safeguards; Vrbo did not respond. It remains unclear whether the promotional demonstrations represent typical speed or accuracy. Miami-Dade officials previously said use was limited and exploratory, with no significant breakthroughs, arrests, or case outcomes driven primarily by the tool. Graylark restricted Raven to government and enterprise users after earlier reports that members of its public Discord discussed stalking women.
