Checkobot: An AI Image and Deepfake Detector

Summary

Checkobot is an AI image detector being developed by Kartikeya and the team behind SpoofSense.ai to address weaknesses they see in existing detection tools, including missed deepfakes, failures on images from newer Flux models, and false flags on genuine images. The service uses three complementary checks: a full-image model looks for signals from an AI generator across the image, a face specialist examines faces for swaps and edits, and a C2PA check looks for signed Content Credentials recording AI generation or editing. The creators say their parent company has been working on deepfake detection and that this experience informed a general-purpose detector. Free checks are processed in memory rather than stored, although Checkobot retains the file’s SHA-256 hash and the verdict. Users receive three free checks per day. The team is asking users to report both missed detections and unfair flags so it can identify where the system performs poorly.
