Twain is a Git Diff Viewer with AI-Assisted Review Comments

Summary

Twain is an open-source-style Git diff viewer designed for people who want an alternative to Meld. It shows all files in a Git diff sequentially, provides a fast file tree, scrolling change minimaps, repository-wide search, and tree-sitter-based syntax highlighting. Users can switch between full files and changed regions, gradually revealing unchanged content when needed. Twain also lets users comment on selected lines or groups of changes; AI agents can read those comments and add more through the command line. The tool can compare other Git revisions, although the project says that is currently less important. It is available as a binary or Flatpak release, or can be built with Cargo, requiring GTK 4, GtkSourceView 5, and libadwaita. Unlike Meld, it does not currently support merging, three-way comparisons, other version-control systems, or direct file editing.
