baa Monitors Mac RAM and Cleans Up Forgotten Processes
Summary
baa is a macOS menu bar utility for monitoring free RAM, memory pressure, and disk space. It changes status color as memory becomes constrained and sends a warning shortly before the system is expected to run out of RAM. The tool looks for leftover apps and scripts, processes started by AI agents that have been idle for at least 15 minutes, large inactive processes, Docker without containers, and loaded Ollama models. It estimates how much memory can be recovered and lets users free individual items or everything it finds with one click, while never killing processes automatically. It can also identify development debris such as old builds and package caches and remove selected items. The utility includes terminal commands for reading RAM leftovers, freeing processes, cleaning disk items, configuring warning thresholds, and sending test notifications. It requires macOS 14 or later and can be installed through Homebrew or built from source.
