AI Answer Engines Show Winner-Take-Most Brand Visibility

Summary

The State of AI Brand Visibility 2026 measures how AI answer engines recommend brands across 24 buyer categories and 120 brands. In 23 categories, one leading brand appeared in every buyer question, creating a winner-take-most pattern that is more concentrated than a conventional search results page with multiple listings. Ten percent of the brands were never mentioned, showing that market presence does not guarantee visibility in AI-generated answers. Even the category leaders captured only about 26% of all brand mentions on average, leaving some room for competing brands. The report lists leaders such as Acuity Scheduling, Mailchimp, ExpressVPN, Canva, Salesforce, Asana, and Google Analytics, each with 100% visibility in its measured category; Copy.ai was the exception, with 83% visibility in AI writing tools. The researchers asked AI answer engines realistic buyer questions, recorded which brands were recommended, and calculated visibility and share of voice. The figures come from the live No Niner AI Visibility Index and change over time. The report presents AI visibility as a measurable metric that brands may seek to improve through AEO or GEO.
