WAIC CONNECT Malaysia opened in Kuala Lumpur on September 7 as a two-day industry event supported by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia and sponsored by Huawei. Its first day combined a City Walk, Huawei Cloud’s Agentic AI Practice workshop and an AI Showcase, focusing on how AI is moving from infrastructure and innovation institutions into concrete enterprise and public-sector scenarios. The City Walk visited MRANTI, Malaysia’s national technology commercialisation institution, and Huawei AI Lab & Innovation Centre to examine research, technology transfer, cloud infrastructure and local deployment pathways. Speakers said Asia-Pacific’s intelligent-economy growth could reach US$1.4 trillion by 2030, with an estimated compound annual growth rate of about 15%, while stressing that computing, connectivity and compliant data integration are prerequisites for scaling AI. The event also presented opportunities in smart manufacturing, logistics, terminals and AI-agent services, but described the window for market positioning as potentially only two to three years. Huawei Cloud outlined a five-layer Agentic Cloud architecture and a product portfolio including ModelArts, AI DataLake, MaaS and AgentArts. It announced that CodeArts, an intelligent coding product combining a code model, IDE and autonomous development modes, was commercially available in Malaysia. CodeArts includes code generation, development knowledge Q&A and unit-test generation; its Agent Team contains 16 specialised agents, while Codebase supports understanding and retrieval across codebases of up to tens of millions of lines. Huawei also announced a three-month professional-plan early-access programme and local expert support for selected enterprise users. The 1,500-square-metre showcase brought together more than 40 AI companies and ecosystem partners, with examples spanning government services, finance, education and telecoms. The second day was scheduled to focus on green and intelligent infrastructure, overseas expansion and business matchmaking in education and government.
