Moochy is a free tool that lets people donate usage from their own AI provider accounts to open-source projects they rely on. Users choose a project and set monthly, optional weekly and daily limits, plus a per-request cap that defaults to $5. Maintainers can use the donated capacity for code reviews, tests, and fixes through coding agents and tools that support MCP or OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible APIs, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, and others listed by Moochy. The app runs on the donor’s machine, stores the provider key in the machine’s keychain, checks limits before each request, and sends requests through Moochy’s servers as encrypted bytes. Moochy says its servers do not see API keys or prompts, while each request produces a device-signed receipt showing the project, model, cost, and day. The service supports Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, and xAI. Moochy is free and takes no commission; users pay their provider directly for requests within their limits. The app responsible for holding keys and performing encryption is open source under Apache-2.0, while Moochy’s servers and website are not.
